R.I.P. Prof. dr hab. multi dr h.c Jan Gawęcki (1944-2026)

Z głębokim smutkiem zawiadamiamy, że w dniu 1 maja 2026 odszedł Pan Profesor dr hab. multi dr h.c Jan Gawęcki - wybitny naukowiec, ceniony nauczyciel akademicki, wychowawca wielu pokoleń studentów i współpracowników. Pan Profesor był członkiem Polskiego Towarzystwa Nauk Żywieniowych, a w latach 1999–2007 pełnił funkcję Wiceprezesa PTNŻ.
Z wdzięcznością będziemy pamiętać o Jego oddaniu pracy naukowej i dydaktycznej oraz niezwykłej zdolność łączenia wysokich standardów naukowych z otwartością na drugiego człowieka. Jego obecność na zawsze pozostanie częścią historii PTNŻ.

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Professor Jan Gawęcki, PhD, DSc, Dr h.c. mult., on May 1, 2026. Professor Gawęcki was an eminent scientist, a highly respected academic teacher, and a mentor to many generations of students and colleagues. He was a distinguished member of the Polish Society of Nutritional Sciences and served as Vice President of the Society from 1999 to 2007. We shall remember with deep gratitude his unwavering dedication to scientific research and academic education, as well as his extraordinary ability to combine the highest scholarly standards with genuine openness and respect for others. His presence and contributions will remain an enduring part of the history of the Polish Society of Nutritional Sciences. May his memory be honored.
